President visits Puttaparthi
The Hindu - 8 May 2009ANANTAPUR: President Pratibha Patil made a brief visit to Puttaparthi in the district on Thursday evening. She was there for less than two hours with seeking the blessings of Sathya Saibaba being the only scheduled programme.
On her arrival at Sri Sathya Sai airport outside Puttaparthi in a special IAF aircraft from New Delhi, the President was welcomed by Minister for Industries J. Geetha Reddy and Zilla Parishad Chairperson T. Kavitha. Besides, IGP of Rayalaseema Region R.P. Thakur, DIG of Police, Anantapur Range, B.L. Sujatha Rao, Collector V. Anil Kumar,
Superintendent of Police M.K. Singh and Secretary of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust S. Chakravarthy also welcomed her by presenting bouquets.
Meets Sai Baba
From the airport, she drove straight to Sai Sreenivasa guest house in Prashanti Nilyam and had darshan of Sathya Saibaba for about 40 minutes.She was accompanied by her daughter Jyothi Rathod and two grandchildren apart from the official entourage.
The President was seen off at the airport around 5.45 pm by the same team who welcomed her.
